Mayfield ready to leave Cleveland The NFC South will look very different this year, with Baker to Carolina, Matt Ryan out of Atlanta and Sean Payton enjoying retirement.
Carolina's weather is vastly different than Cleveland's, but Baker wouldn't have it any other way and is ready to move on. "I'm grateful for my four years in Cleveland," Mayfield told reporters via Akron Beacon Magazine during the youth camp on June 28. “I will always be with me through my many ups and downs and a lot of learning. I have teammates, friends and relationships that I will be with for the rest of my life. …Cleveland support people, Cleveland people. It’s a great Sports Town. I appreciate it. No grudges against the city of Cleveland, anyway.” Mayfield brings four seasons of experience to the Panthers. In those four years, he has passed for 14,125 yards and 92 touchdowns with a completion rate of 61.6 percent. He should be an upgraded version of Sam Darnold, who is still on the Panthers' roster and mentor to their rookie Matt Coral.
