A 3.5% economic growth forecast for 2023–2024 was described as a "realistic target" by Pakistan's finance minister. Ishaq Dar stated a day after presenting the budget for the nation amid the economic crisis that it was a target that was "on the lower side". Islamabad is requesting additional bailout funds from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as the national budget is being prepared.
The finance minister stated that he was "hopeful" Pakistan would pass its upcoming IMF assessment, which would be the ninth for the nation. But he "didn't think" it would pass further reviews, he continued. Only 0.29% growth in Pakistan's gross domestic product (GDP) was anticipated,
