Yemen's Houthi rebels have attacked the Duba port oil terminal in the country's eastern Hadramut province, their latest assault on the country's oil infrastructure.

Both the Houthis and the internationally recognized Yemeni government, which controls the Duba port terminal, both confirmed the attack on Monday, which said in a statement that it happened while a merchant ship was docking at the port. The Houthis said they forced an oil tanker to "leave".

Workers said the Panamanian-flagged tanker Pratika entered the terminal to load a cargo of crude but left the waters after the attack.

The UK Maritime Trade Operations Office (UKMTO), which is part of the Royal Navy, said it had received a report that a single point mooring in Siehl was hit by a missile or rocket at 12:12 GMT The UK Maritime Trade Action Office said all crew members and the vessel were safe, but did not name the vessel.

At 19:52 GMT, the tanker Pratika was heading for the Suez Canal in the Gulf of Aden, Refinitiv data showed.

An eight-year civil war between the Houthi rebels and Yemen's government - which is backed by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition - has divided the country, with rebels largely controlling northern Yemen.

The Houthis have been attacking oil ports in government-controlled areas of Yemen as they mount pressure to gain financial gain in U.N.-led talks to extend the truce, which have dragged on. The attacks have disrupted crude exports and strangled state revenues, officials said.

The Houthis have warned tankers not to use Yemeni ports in an attempt to prevent the Yemeni government from generating revenue from oil exports.
