Samsung is anticipated to announce the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 at a special event in Korea on July 26. The company has already confirmed the venue and the schedule, but hasn't yet made a commitment on the date.
Anyway, as has been often rumoured, the Flip5 is shaping up to be a vast improvement in terms of outside screen real estate over its predecessor. According to a recent claim, that larger space won't be wasted because it will support Google apps that have been particularly optimised.
According to reports, Samsung and Google have been collaborating closely to optimise Google's programmes for the outside screen, including Maps, Messages, and even YouTube. Once you purchase a Flip5, you will be able to text, watch videos, and use GPS without having to unfold the device thanks to this collaboration.
That is unquestionably more useful functionality than Oppo's Find N2 Flip, one of the Flip5's primary rivals, can claim even now, many months after its international launch. Although it features a screen that is far larger than Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip4, it is not very useful.
It appears that Samsung is creating a number of particularly optimised apps to avoid falling into the same trap. These apps include its own packed keyboard, which can be used while the phone is folded.
It's unclear at this point whether this implies more third-party apps will eventually support the Flip5's outside screen, but Google makes some of the most popular Android apps, so having those optimised from the start is still a big move.
